Greek-Israeli Cooperation Institute

The Greek-Israeli Cooperation Institute (GICI) was founded in 2011 by a profound sense of responsibility towards two historic peoples, who have many and essential common features and interconnecting cultural traditions. Their memorable achievements in the many centuries of their glorious past has demonstrated their immense creative and productive powers. Their characteristic resilience in particular points to a great potential for joint action in the future, promising to bring about a wider intercultural coexistence and innovative cooperation.

The aims of the Institute are non-profit and exclusively related to research, education, culture, and joint economic prosperity. The main objective of the Institute is to act as a catalyst and networking hub for the Hellenic-Israeli initiative through a balanced set of critical forces, mainly from Israel and Greece, aiming at cooperation towards intercultural understanding, peaceful coexistence, scientific progress and sustainable development for the benefit of the two peoples.

As a first step in the realization of its goals, GICI undertook the information campaign on the ancient friendship between the Kings of Sparta and the High Priests of Israel, exploring ways to revive and promote the spirit of this historic example of cultural diplomacy.
